I am currently a tenured Associate Professor in Political Science at Idaho State University in Pocatello Idaho. Here at Idaho State, I teach both graduate and undergraduate courses on American Politics, with a focus on the law and courts.
Previously, I was a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Political Science Department at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. There, I taught American Politics, Constitutional Law, and Civil Rights & Civil Liberties, and supervised three senior research projects on the law and courts. Before heading to Skidmore, I completed two years as Visiting Assistant Professor in the Politics Department at Occidental College in Los Angeles.
I started my teaching career at Northeastern University in Boston as a Lecturer in both the School of Public Policy & Urban Affairs and the College of Professional Studies. I currently teach summer session for Northeastern’s Political Science Department. For my teaching there, I was award the 2019-2020 Outstanding Teaching Award for Part-Time Faculty in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities. I also taught public policy at Framingham State University, pre-law courses at the University of Connecticut, and criminal justice at Curry College.
My research focuses on two distinct issues. The first explores the role of courts in the public policy process, judicial decision-making, and the use of storytelling in legal argument. The other focuses on political science pedagogy, with a focus on simulations and legal argument.
